Surface Tension Meter - Du Noüy Ring or Wilhelmy Plate:

De Du Noüy Ring Method en de Wilhelmy Plate Method are both used to measure Surface Tension with high precision, however, the Du Noüy Ring Method relies on a precision engineered Du Noüy Ring en de Wilhelmy Plate Method relies on a precision engineered Wilhelmy Plate:

De Du Noüy Ring Method measures the force required to detach a precision engineered Platinum Ring which is called Du Noüy Ring from the surface of a liquid. This force is related to the Surface Tension of the sample liquid.

Tijdens de Du Noüy Ring Surface Tension Measurement the precsion engineered ring is pulled sowly upwards and the maximum force before detachment is measured.

De Wilhelmy Plate Method measures the force exerted on a precision engineered thin Platinum Plate which is called Wilhelmy Plate which is partially immersed into the smaple liquid.

Tijdens de Wilhelmy Plate Surface Tension Measurement de Wilhelmy Plate is suspended slowly vertically and the force exerted by the sample liquid on the Wilhelmy Plate is measured. This force is directly proportional to the surface tension.

While both methods measure the Surface Tension automatically with high accuracy at the touch of a button, theWilhelmy Plate Method is usually preferred when more flexibility, highest accuracy and the measurement of sample with Dynamic Surface Tension and changing Surface Tension are required.

In comparison, the Du Noüy Ring Method is ideal for fast and general Surface Tension Measurements, however, errors might occur occasionally due to the liquid mensicus when the Du Noüy Ringb is pulled.

While both methods provide valuable surface tension measurements, de Wilhelmy Plate Method is generally considered more accurate and versatile, particularly for Dynamic Surface Tension Measurements.
