Den Falling Abrasive Wear Resistance Test is performed with the Slidprøvningsapparat med faldende sand. The Abrasive Sand is added into the Top Funnel which is connected to the Vertical Abrasive Sand Tube. The Abrasive Sand exits the Top Funnel and enters the Vertical Abrasive Sand Tube and falls at the surface of the sample at an angle of 45°. Abrasive Sand is added to the Top Funnel until the sample surface shows signs of scratching, the surface coating is penetrated and the material underneath the coating becomes visible. Abrasion Wear Resistance Test Results are expressed by the Volume of Abrasive Sand necessary to penetrate the surface coating. A wide variety of Abrasive Powders are used with this Falling Abrasive Wear Tester to determine the Abrasion Wear Resistance of surface coatings including Silica Sand and various grades of Silicon Carbide Powders. A Sieve System is used to ensure the same type and size of Abrasive Grains is used throughout your sample tests offering a high repeatability. Silica Sand usually presents a slower rate of wear and abrasion when testing organic coatings.
