De Scratch Resistance of samples differs in the degree of the damage that may occur during the Mar Test and the Scratch Test on the sample surface.
De Surface Hardness Test and the Scratch Test is divided into two main categories:
- De Mar Resistance is the ability of samples to resist light scratching. Mar is primarily an optical issue caused by fine and visible scratches on sample surfaces which affect the appearance of sample surfaces,
- De Scratch Resistance is the ability of samples to resist deeper and harsher scratching across the sample surface. A Scratch is a deeper cut or damage of the sample surfaces which may damage the entire coating and cut the an entire multi-coating system.
